NingXia Red For Your Pet's Health
By Dr Jeannie Thomason
Chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, kidney and live failure, heart disease, digestive problems, skin problems, gingivitis, arthritis, allergies, ear infections, yeast over-growth, etc. have been in the increase in our companion animals over the last 30 or so years. Our pets are dying much younger and having symptoms of anxiety, depression and aggression more then ever before.
Interestingly all these signs of dis-ease were all human ailments rarely if ever seen in our pets. So what is the common link? What if anything can be done to prevent these health problems?
Our diets, and what we feed our pets is mostly processed, commercial foods anymore, we live in a fast, convenient food age. These processed diets and fast, junk foods are taxing our immune systems. Our pets are being over vaccinated and we are using toxic chemicals in, on and around our homes, yards and our pet's bodies as well as our own.
Modern medicine treats the symptoms instead of looking for the underlying causes of illness. The over use of antibiotics, steroids, chemical pesticides etc. are taxing the liver, kidneys and over all immune system while driving the illness or dis-ease further into the body.
Aside from trauma, the process of death, at the cell level, is oxidation. The death of cells is caused by an invading molecule called a "free radical" which invades cells causing their death. These invading free radicals are part of our pets (and our) environment, the chemical preservatives in processed pet foods, water, chemical pesticides sold by your veterinarian,
anything that is foreign to the body can, potentially, become a free radical.
To keep it simple, when a free radical enters the body and the immune system is not functioning optimally, three things can
Should the free radical attack a cell membrane, allergies can occur.
Should the molecule attack the fat globule that nourishes the cell, the cell dies. This is associated with aging and rheumatoid arthritis.
Should the free radical attack the nucleus of the cell, which has the reproductive map of the cell (DNA) cancer can develop.
Immunodeficiency combined with a weak antioxidant defense system are the primary causes of illness. Since the animal's body
is constantly bombarded by free radicals it is virtually impossible for the antioxidant defense system to be consistently
at peak performance. To a great degree, immune activity is aided by antioxidants
Antioxidants are substances that act as shields or barriers to prevent the invading free radicals from doing harm to cells.
Antioxidants not only increase the number of white blood cells it also enhances antibody formation. The only logical
solution is to help the ailing antioxidant defense system through the use of antioxidants.
The Ningxia Wolfberry, (also called goji) is the highest ORAC antioxidant known.
Click Here for the Scientific data.
Just as the wolfberry has been shown to have remarkable protective and disease-fighting abilities in the human body, it may
also benefit the health of your pet by helping to normalize and balance his/her vital immune function. More than 40 years of
research on humans and animals have revealed the wolfberry's ability to regulate immunity by commanding and controlling
many of the body's important defense functions.
As you are all aware, proper nutrition is the key for total health and vitality in our pet's lives. Superior nutrition can
help your companion animals not only sustain life but to thrive and keep a healthy immune system. I want to share with you,
an extremely healthy, all natural supplement (made with wolfberry) I have begun giving my own dogs.
NingXia Red Juice
This juice packs in more vital nutrients than any other known substance and is unmatched in its health promoting powers.
Researchers have discovered that the wolfberry and Ningxia Red's other ingredients are a goldmine of highly bio-active
polysaccharides and antioxidants, so unique that they are referred to as "master molecules" by virtue of their ability to
harness the body's most important biochemical defense systems.
Supplemental amounts of NingXia Red juice can reap the following rewards for your own dog,cat or bird:
More active dogs that compete in hunting trials or agility are prone to the same type of cuts, bruises, and sprains that cause us all pain and discomfort. As our dogs age,
many of them develop arthritis. Increasing the essential polysaccharides in the diet, have been shown to decrease Arthritis symptoms.
NingXia Red has these essential polysaccharides that support the activity of all classes of immune lymphocyte cells, as well as help activate them when under attack. This means your pet is protected from infection and inflammation before symptoms occur, and they will recover faster in the event symptoms do arise.
The high amounts of antioxidants, polysaccharides and other immune defense properties may also offer cancer protection. Studies have shown wolfberries kill tumor cells by assisting a process in which cancer cells are broken down and recycled.
The cells in our pet's bodies (ours too) may be attacked approximately 100,000 times per day by free radicals. A free radical is a molecule without an electron. For it to be balanced, it seeks out electrons from other cells and steals them. Cell membranes are where many of these electrons are taken from, and results in these cell membranes eroding, and then cells do not work properly.
Free radicals set off a change reaction- they destroy cellular tissue, and cell membrane which destroys the communication in the cells.
In an animal study done at a hospital in Beijing in 2002, Wolfberry was found to stimulate interleukin-2 and gamma interferon,
two anti-inflammatory substances important in supporting a healthy immune system.
The wolfberry also contains 500 times more vitamin C by weight than an orange, contains over 20 trace minerals such as iron, copper, calcium and zinc, and are the richest source of carotenoids, including beta carotene (with more beta carotene than even carrots), in the world.
How does your body protect itself?
Antioxidants neutralize free radicals.
Antioxidants are a normal part of the body to balance it. They give the molecule the electron it needs with out damaging
a cell to get it.
Anti-oxidants come from various fruits and vegetables. Berries out perform vitamins in fighting these free radicals- (Wolfberry, blackberry, blueberry, cranberry etc.) Ningxia Red is an antioxidant!
If free radicals remain unchecked, they can even attack DNA, the blueprint used to create each new cell in the body. If not repaired, damaged DNA copies itself to new cells created. In this manner, each new cell is damaged, and mutation can occur. A number of studies show that wolfberry is protective against DNA breakage and mutations. Additionally, ellagic acid, found in blueberries, raspberries, and pomegranates (all juice ingredients in NingXia Red) has been found to "protect DNA against injury."
NingXia Red juice on the ORAC scale, which measures the anti-oxidant qualities is very high ....... 1500 as compared to:
Xango juice at 550,
Tahitian Noni at 500,
Himalayan Goji juice at 400, and
Limu Juice at 87.
Supporting Cardiovascular Health
Pomegranate juice, one of the juice ingredients in NingXia Red, has been found to inhibit a
key enzyme responsible for the progression of atherosclerosis by 36 percent, and a 5% decrease in systolic blood pressure
after just two weeks of consumption.1 Even more exciting, pomegranate juice given to mice with pre-existing heart disease had
indicators of that disease (foam cells and atherosclerosis lesions) reduced by almost half compared to controls.2
Supporting Eye Health
One of the carotenoids found in the wolfberry in higher than normal amounts, is called Zeaxanthin. There are some 40 clinical
studies showing that Zeaxanthin is a powerful eye protectant. Being a breeder of Boston Terriers which can have inherent cataracts, I am very excited to see how well NingXia Red's wolfberrys will make a difference in dogs eye health.
Improved Energy and Performance
A happy pet is an active and healthy pet. Experts say that NingXia Red's high levels of adaptogens increase energy and stamina by improving your animal's ability to consume and use oxygen. Adaptogens also improve cardiovascular health by strengthening the heart and circulation, and continue to work overtime while your pet is resting by supporting muscle growth and repair.
Twenty-five percent of all American pets suffer from obesity. Odds increase with spayed or neutered pets. Obese pets are at a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, joint problems, and diabetes. In an animal study, it was found that Ningxia Red's polysaccharides converted food into energy more readily and helped to reduced body weight.
Sadly enough, diabetes has reached epidemic proportions among pets(largely due to improper diet). The wolfberry, (the main ingredient in Ningxia Red) has been used in the treatment of diabetes in China for many years. Its polysaccharides have been shown to help balance blood sugar and insulin response.
NingXia Red also has a very low glycemic index. It has eight essential saccharides required for glycoprotein synthesis:
N Acetylneuraminic acid- sialic acid
* Essential Oils in NingXia Red
It has been found that supplements enhanced with essential oils increase the absorption of food nutrients and aid in the detoxification of the body.
* Essential oils are the life-giving resin found in all plant life that delivers the nutrients that produce strong and healthy plants very similar to the function of our blood. Essential oils may enhance oxygen uptake, absorption and utilization
NingXia Red fills the nutritional needs that our pet's foods no longer have
available. They also like the taste!
If you're looking for a way to help a sick or injured pet without aggressive medication, or if you're looking for a way to
keep your pet vibrant and healthy, consider this all-natural way to enhance your pet's biochemical defense mechanisms.

NingXia Red Ingredients: Whole Ningxia wolfberry (lyceum barbarum) puree, Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) juice, Pomegranate (Punica granatum) juice, Apricot (Prunus armeniaca) juice, Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) juice, Organic blue agave (A. tequilana) nectar, *Grape (Vitis vinifera, GSE Grape Seed Extract) seed, skin, and stem, Lemon (Citrus limon) rind, Orange (Citrus sinensis) rind.
*Safety of Grape Seed Extract: Grapes and raisins have been the focus of much debate in past years. Here is in part from the Veterinary Information Network board posts: "Ingestion of grapes or raisins has been associated with acute renal failure in dogs. Anecdotal evidence suggests that cats may also be affected... It is thought that grapes being a fructose sugar, it is quickly eliminated through the kidneys where it may reach high tissue levels. It then would cause a certain cell "power house" called the mitochondria to open and allow calcium to enter. This causes the mitochondria to stop functioning, therefore the death of the cell. Recent unpublished data indicates that the toxic component is water soluble, and within the flesh of the grape/raisin, not the seed. Thus the current thinking is that grape seed may be safe to use."
Grape seed is often found with antioxidant supplements used for human cancer treatments. The seed induces the cell deaths of highly replicating cancer cells. There was a study done on men with prostate carcinoma which showed approximately 90% inhibition of the pathways that induces the growth of the cancer cells.
The flavanoids in the seed are known to reduce inflammation, and support the immune system particularly with respiratory issues, allergies, and skin problems. It has been used in cats and dogs successfully without any reported problems. Grape seed extract appears to be especially beneficial to aging animals, and animals with cataracts, cancer and heart disease.

A Few Testimonies
After having read on an email list about several people using BYJ (older formula of NingXia Red) with their animals, I
decided to try it on my cats.
One of my cats, a Munchkin named Zoe, was adopted because the breeder was moving cross country, and she had Feline Herpes,
so she could not be sold. If a home could not be found for her, she was going to be put down. Her symptoms are usually l
imited to dripping eyes and nose, and her face must be cleaned at least once a day.
Another, non-Munchkin cat named Sox, has had a sporadic occasion of licking her legs raw. We've used Melrose, Melaleuca,
Animal Scents, expensive ointments from the vet, changed her food, put e-collars on her, you name it, we've tried it.
Additionally, our vet has said she has arthritis in one leg (she's about 9 years old).
So I decided to put all my cats on a daily eye-dropper full of Ningxia Red
. At first my husband was horrified: "You're
giving that expensive juice to the CATS?!!" Well, I ignored that and after 5 days of giving them one eye-dropper full
each day, here are the results:
Zoe's eyes have almost completely stopped dripping. I have not had to clean her face each day, and her nose is clean as
well. After five days, she looks like her face usually does after about 12 hours. Yesterday in our 100+ degree heat wave,
I put on several drops of Peppermint, and she not only came near me, she climbed in my lap and closely sniffed my fingers
and palms without backing away.
Judging by her energy level and playfulness, I believe she is feeling better than usual. This makes sense, if
Feline Herpes weakens the immune system, and the NR (NingXia Red) strengthens and fortifies the immune system.
Although the jury is still out on Sox, we are monitoring her closely. She appears not to be licking as much, and some of
the raw spots appear to have less redness to them. She doesn't fight getting an eyedropper full of juice. She swallows it
as if she likes it and makes no move to get away when I release her. As to her arthritis, she seems to have now have little
difficulty moving around, but she was never much of a complainer before. Her energy level does not appear different. She
is twice the weight of my Munckins, so perhaps she should be getting 2 eye droppers full.
Our last kitty, Libby, who is also a Munchkin, accepts the juice, shakes her head like she has just had a swallow of
straight lemon juice, and walks calmly away. She has been very affectionate in the last two days, where she is normally a
very stand-offish cat.
I will be interested to hear from other animal owners who give NR to their fur-pals.
My husband and I raise Otter Hounds, and recently, our biggest boy, Cosmo began to limp. He worsened rather quickly to
the point that he was unable to maneuver the steps at all. At 95 pounds it was not easy to assist him up that flight of
stairs. My husband and I have drining NingXia Red Juice and it has greatly helped my husband with his joint flexibility
and mobility, so we thought we would try it on Cosmo. Two weeks later and he has no sign of discomfort, no limping, and he
is taking those stairs like a puppy! NingXia Red for your pets? You bet! We now feed it to the rest of our "pack" as well.
They all anxiously wait for their turn each morning, they love it!"
Josie, Boulder Colorado
Roxanne, my 8-year-old black lab, had arthritis and could hardly walk up the font steps. But after taking
and NingXia Red for only 1 week she is now back running and playing like a puppy again."
Barbara B, Ohio
I have found that my Yorkie loves NR-as I drink it every day, he lets me know when he wants some my trying to lick my
Then I pour him some in the cap and let him have a drink. He also comes running when he hears the crinkle of me
unwrapping a Wolfberry bar. He is the cutest little guy and is in great health. I think it's important to share our
discoveries with our

It is important to remember that nutritional therapy, prevention, and control of diseases is not a "quick fix."
The process can be a slow one, the biochemical changes that occur canl take time, sometimes up to six to eight weeks
